Once our exclusively Swiss-grown herbs are harvested, it's all about efficiency. We want to preserve all of their natural properties. We manufacture our entire range of herbal sweets at our headquarters located in Laufen, Switzerland.

The herbs first come to the Ricola Herb Centre, where all the processing steps take place under one roof: quarantine checks to ensure the highest possible quality, further examination for freshness, aroma, purity, colour, and condition. Only the best is good enough. Once inspected, the herbs are carefully dried, cleaned, cut, and blended according to our iconic herbal recipes. Finally, they are stored in a way that preserves their natural properties.

Mighty efficient

The production process of the sweets begins with the extraction of essential flavours and active ingredients from herbal blends. Depending on the variety, these concentrates are enriched with additional components such as plant extracts, sugar, or sugar substitutes. To reduce energy and water consumption and minimise waste, we use advanced equipment and resource-efficient processes. For example, about half of the Herb Centre's electricity is generated by a photovoltaic system on the roof.
