“We linden trees are said to know the secret of eternal youth. You see, my flowers are bisexual. So each flower has both male and female reproductive organs. This increases the chances of successful pollination. Perhaps this is part of the secret of our youthfulness?”

Forever young

The European lime - or linden, as it is known in Britain and Ireland - has no age, it just grows and grows and in the end it can live for 1,000 years. This is why the lime tree (which is not related to the citrus lime) has an aura of power and strength. It is considered a fountain of youth, but also a tree that protects people and their homes.

In Europe, the healing powers of the lime tree and its flowers (Tilia platyphyllos) have been used since time immemorial. In addition to its healing properties, linden flowers have a wide range of uses: Its pleasant fragrance makes it useful in aromatherapy. Its extracts are used in some skin care products for their soothing and anti-inflammatory properties. Linden flowers are also added to flavour drinks and syrups. Its delicate, sweet aroma enhances a variety of culinary creations.
